Northern Spotted Owl

Watercolor on Treated Paper

Sequoia is a Northern Spotted Owl. When young, he fell from his nest, tearing an important tendon at the front of his wing. At first, experts felt he'd never fly again but the muscle healed enough for him to fly - but not well enough for the silent speed and accuracy he'd need to catch food.

He now lives at WildCare in San Rafael.
