"Erased" Watercolors

A reverse of the usual watercolor techniques.

First, I coated the paper with acrylic mat medium so it isn't absorbent.

Second, I squeezed great big gobs of paint onto the paper and rolled it out.

Third, I took a brush and water and started removing paint.

Sometimes, I put in color before the mat medium (like the yellow eyes)

and sometimes I added dark paint on top after lifting to find the light areas.

Finally, I had it mounted and shellacked to preserve it.
